Susan G. Komen Miami/Ft. Lauderdale is part the world’s largest network of breast cancer survivors and activists. Our Mission is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.  

The Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Affiliate was founded in 1999 on the guiding principle of Komen National, to combat breast cancer at every front. To that end, 75 percent of the Affiliate’s net income goes toward funding grants to local hospitals and community organizations that provide breast health education, breast cancer screening and treatment programs for uninsured, medically underserved women in Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. The remaining 25 percent supports the National grants program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific programs around the world. Because of the incredible breast cancer research being conducted in our region, a significant amount of National grant dollars are returned to our community, making the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Affiliate one of few who can boast that more than 100% of the funds raised locally are spent locally.
